Michelle Swanson is originally from Des Moines, Iowa, attending Dowling High School. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 2004 with Finance major and Spanish minor. She moved to Chicago in May 2004 where she worked at Hewitt Associates as a Business Analyst until 2009. She returned to Des Moines in November 2008 and currently works at InFocus Partners. She continues to grow in her career with opportunities that encourage positive change in the work place by serving as a West Des Moines Chamber Ambassador and Vice President of the Rising Leaders Business Networking International Group.

Michelle Swanson believes in the importance of growing professionally. In June 2009, Michelle earned the Distinguished Toastmasters Award, which is the highest ranking level for speaking before beginning in professional speaking endeavors. Michelle serves as the Immediate Past Area Governor for North 45 in District 30. She also helps Area 72 in Des Moines, Iowa through public speaking at Leadership Institutes and Conferences. In addition, Michelle actively participates in the West Des Moines Chamber Young Professionals organization known as New View and is a member of the Ames Chamber of Commerce.

Michelle Swanson's hobbies include running, teaching aerobics, traveling, and public service. She recently married Jesse Swanson in September 2009 and they are looking forward to attending football games in Iowa City this fall. Most importantly, she wants to continually seize the opportunities of positive leadership and involvement in the West Des Moines Community.
