Brian Newton, CPA is a senior manager with McGowen, Hurst, Clark & Smith, P.C., a local full-service CPA firm providing a wide variety of services, including audit, tax, consulting, business valuation, and fraud deterrence services. Brian specializes in providing tax planning and preparation, business consulting and compilation and review services to closely held businesses and individuals and has worked in public accounting for 13 years.
Brian is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting in 1996. Brian is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accounts, where he serves on the Family and Workplace Issues Committee. Brian serves as board treasurer of both the Pleasant Hill Soccer Club and the Young Women’s Resource Center and is actively involved with the Brinks Social Club and Two Rivers Church.
Brian is a Des Moines native and currently resides in Pleasant Hill with his wife Shannon, son Grant and daughter Kenzie. Brian enjoys coaching his children’s soccer teams, following UNI and Iowa athletics, spending time with family and friends and traveling.
