Brian Rickert
Inaugural Class of 2009
Brian Rickert is a member of BrownWinick Law Firm and has a primary focus
on litigation of claims for businesses. He has tried cases and argued numerous
times before state and federal appellate courts in matters involving complex
business disputes, products liability claims, relations with governmental
agencies, and various other contract and tort claims. He has been involved
in lawsuits not only in Iowa, but all over the Midwest.
Brian is Chair of his firm’s Construction Law practice group and represents
owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and
sureties in all facets of their business, including litigation and arbitration
of claims. Brian is also a frequent speaker to professionals, construction
associations and attorneys on topics relating to construction law and litigation.
Brian also serves in many community roles. He is a graduate of both Leadership
Iowa and the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute. In 2005, he was selected
by the Des Moines Business Record as one of the top 40 business leaders in
Iowa under the age of 40. Brian is also active in political circles in Iowa
and is a former President of the Bull Moose Club, a club consisting of Republicans
under the age of 40. Brian is also active in many Iowa campaigns.
Brian received his J.D., with honors, from Drake University and received
his Finance Degree from the University of Iowa. He is licensed to practice
law in state and federal courts in Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri, as well as
the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Brian is listed in Best Lawyers of America®
and in Chambers USA®.
Brian is a 30-plus year resident of West Des Moines, attending Western Hills
Elementary, Stilwell Junior High, and Valley High School. He and his wife,
Wendy, live in West Des Moines with their three children, Allison, Ben and
Andy.
