My name is Dennis Cochran. I am the program manager and a flight nurse for Mercy One, the air medical helicopter transport service located at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The program is a 2 helicopter base with one aircraft located at Mercy Medical Center’s downtown campus in Des Moines, and the other at the Knoxville airport near Knoxville Iowa. Our program is responsible for the air medical transport of critically ill and injured patients. We provide rapid and critical care transport to a wide range of patient’s ranging from the premature neonate infants to the elderly.
My responsibilities include all patient care aspects when I am working as a flight nurse. In addition, I manage the daily operations of both bases and the 33 medical providers which work for our program. We employee both flight nurses and flight paramedics. Our team is also comprised of 7 pilots and 3 mechanics which work for Air Methods, the company that the hospital leases the aircraft from.
I am married; my wife’s name is Ann. We have two sons Jason and Joel, and one grandson Mason. Ann and I live near Adel. We are lifelong residents of Central Iowa.
