Michael Chambers

Mike Chambers joined RDG Planning & Design in 2004 to create a new Electrical Engineering Department.
Mr. Chambers has participated in all aspects of the electrical construction process since beginning as an electrician’s apprentice in 1979. He received his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1993 and since then, has performed engineering of power, lighting, security, communications, and life-safety systems for a wide variety of construction project types. His experience includes airports, universities, health care facilities, K-12 educational facilities, museums, commercial buildings, multi-family dwellings, and manufacturing facilities.
Mike directs the preparation of RDG’s electrical construction documents and performs Construction Administration for RDG’s electrical projects.
Mike holds Professional Engineering licenses in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Louisiana. He has attained the designation of LEED Accredited Professional as defined and administered by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Mike is a member of Lutheran Church of Hope and is Past President of the West Des Moines Girls Softball Association.
Mike enjoys family activities, attending children’s sporting events, hunting, and fishing. He and his family, wife Mary and children Kirby (15) and Colton (11), reside in West Des Moines.
